BMR calculator
Basal Metabolic Rate — the calories your body burns at complete rest. The starting point for every calorie target.
--kcal / day
This is what your body burns at complete rest. Your actual daily burn (TDEE) is meaningfully higher once activity is factored in.
Calculate TDEE next →How BMR is calculated
We use the Mifflin-St Jeor equation, the most accurate of the common BMR formulas for the general population:
Men: BMR = (10 × kg) + (6.25 × cm) − (5 × age) + 5 Women: BMR = (10 × kg) + (6.25 × cm) − (5 × age) − 161
What it doesn't tell you
BMR is a population-average estimate. Your actual resting metabolism depends on lean mass, thyroid function, recent diet history, and a few other factors. Use it as a starting estimate, not a target.
